WILDMAN SAM'S 1970'S ROCK AND ROLL NIGHT CLUB

WILDMAN SAM'S started as a teenage "night club" in the heart of Garden Grove in 1975, now not only a part of local, Garden Grove History, but Rock History as well. Founded by Jim Caron, the club was located at 9872 Garden Grove Boulevard, just West of Brookhurst St. The address is now part of the Korean Community Center and is no longer there.
Wildman Sam's feature mostly originals bands and there was NEVER a lack of musicians begging for a chance to play. This was the reason for opening the club, there was NO place to play in Orange County unless you were a BIG name. There were people constantly coming through the door asking to play. The main requirement for getting a gig there was to bring people, the bands were paid half of the door so it upon them to bring their fans.
Eventually Jim Caron was able to obtain a beer and wine license and the business began to thrive. Kim Fowley contact Jim about featuring a new, unknown group of girls called The Runaways who played all the weekends and New Years Eve of 1975.
The entire story and history with pictures of a 17 year old JOAN JETT and LITA FORD jamming on stage are feature in the book "My Wild Times At Wildman Sam's 1970's Rock And Roll Night Club". On Amazon now: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BHG869SH
